As already communicated the entire competition called “EUROPA CUP” is to be played over three distinctive phases: Groups Stage, Top Eight and Europa Cup Super Final. It will be organised for men and women National Teams every year and over a period of approximatively 6 months.
MEN & WOMEN CUP
Teams will be seeded in 3 groups of 4 teams playing the Group Stage (In case of extra entries the TWPC may change the system of competition).
Each of the groups to be played in a tournament at different venues.
In each group each team shall play against each of the other teams (round robin system).
The first two ranked teams in each group and the best 2 teams ranked 3rd in each group of the Group Stage will be qualified to the Preliminaries
The eight (8) teams classified to the Top Eight will be divided in 2 groups to be played in a
tournament at different venues. In each group each team shall play against each of the other teams (round robin system).
The first two ranked teams in each group of the Preliminaries are qualified to the EUROPA CUP
SUPER FINAL.
Super Final to be played by four (4) teams. Teams shall play on a round robin system.
The date of the first edition of this competition are respectively for the men and women teams as follows:
Men Cup
Group Stage: 17 – 19 November 2017
Top Eights: 15 – 18 February 2018
EUROPA CUP Men Super Final: 6 – 8 April 2018
Women Cup
Group Stage: 24 – 26 November 2017
Top Eight: 1 – 4 February 2018
EUROPA CUP Women Super Final: 23 – 25 March 2018
The conditions to enter this new competition will be as follows:
No entry fee
Each participating Federation will be financial responsible of its National Team’s accommodation
and travel.
Each participating Federation will be financial responsible for the travel and accommodation of
its nominated referee.
LEN is financial responsible for the travel of the LEN Delegates
LEN to provide Federations with a travel contribution (100/150 Euro x pp up to 15 people)
2. OWNERSHIP OF THE EUROPA CUP
The Europa Cup is owned and controlled by LEN.
LEN as the owner of all of the Broadcasting Rights grants the organiser of a tournament the
broadcasting rights for television for the domestic territory.
The Organiser of a tournament is required to guarantee an TV host broadcaster providing an
international live TV signal for all games (minimum standards to be precised),
A revenue sharing system will be implemented on the following basis for the revenue of
International TV rights: 20 % for LEN and 80 % for Federations,
LEN will closely work and exchange in good faith with Federations that already have privileged
relations with local and national TVs,
All commercial and marketing rights are exclusively owned by LEN,
LEN grants the organising Federations for their own profit the 50% of the marketing rights,
3. KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE EUROPA CUP
• To provide the very best playing conditions for the participating teams and players,
• To ensure that the event is extensively reported throughout the world by all media channels,
• To maximize the number of spectators at all games and to provide them with an unforgettable
experience,
• To ensure that the Event is a total success from a budgetary aspect and that all parties are
satisfied with the results.
4. THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ORGANISER OF A TOURNAMENT
• To provide world-class competition venues with outstanding media facilities.
• To guarantee together with the government sufficient security for the whole Event for all persons
involved.
• To provide an appropriate telecommunication infrastructure to ensure world-wide state-of-the
art-information about the Europa Cup, such infrastructure to include telecommunication links,
the production of television platforms, cabling, conduits, truck parking etc.
• To stage an event that will bring prestige and credit to the host cities and to the country
• To provide a top class hospitality.
• To promote the Europa Cup to the widest possible audience and to take every step to fill the
competition venues with spectators for every session.
5. THE FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ORGANISER OF A TOURNAMENT
The organiser will be financial responsible for:
• Accommodation in F/B plus per diem for the LEN delegate appointed
• Local transportation
• Costs relating to the venue and facilities.
• All decoration items and marketing support (minimum standard to be determined).
• Costs for the provision of offices at the site for the organising committee and LEN
Costs for the complete information technology infrastructure, the Event Information and the
event accreditation systems.
• Costs for the host broadcasting services for all games.
LEN shall coordinate and assist the organiser with the Host Broadcaster service and the Event
Information and Event Accreditation Systems.
6. INCOME
The Organisers will keep all income derived from:
• Government and Municipal subsidies,
• Ticket Sales,
• Event and sponsorship revenues as agreed with LEN,
• Value-in-kind deals related to cost items as agreed with LEN.
