Hungary’s second ranked side Eger, 5th placed in both previous editions of the Final Six, can already been considered as a main round participant. Winning by six goals in Rijeka secures them an easy return match with Primorje (CRO) in their home pool.
The other Hungarian side, OSC Budapest earned a 4-goal win against Italy’s new force, SM Verona. The gap seems too big to handle, however, if any excitements are expected on Wednesday that should come in Verona as this contest seems to be still open.
DiGi Oradea (ROU) might need a miracle to turn the cards against Hannover (GER) as the Germans – boosted by quality Montenegrin aces – built a 5-goal cushion two weeks ago, and it’s hard to see the Romanians overcoming this deficit.
Jadran Carine (MNE) faces a mission impossible against Brescia (ITA) this time. Last year the Herceg Novi team ousted the Italians in the same phase, now Brescia arrives with a 9-goal lead, surely enough to go through.
Still, the losers’ campaign doesn’t end here as they can continue in the quarter-finals of the Euro Cup.
